by Bangladesh in Focus

The Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services brought together leaders from across the country’s technology community at an iftar in Dhaka, using the event to strengthen networking and encourage closer cooperation in the ICT sector. The gathering was designed as more than a social meal. It created a space where business leaders, association members, and policy figures could meet, share ideas, and look for new ways to support the growth of software and IT services in Bangladesh. Ariful Haque Choudhury attended as chief guest, while Md Amirul Islam Khan and Md Monjurul Islam joined as special guests. BASIS also brought together its convener, co-convener, associate committee members, representatives from member companies, and other industry stakeholders, showing broad participation from the sector. At the event, speakers said the ICT industry now plays a major role in creating jobs, raising export earnings, and building the country’s technology base. They said Bangladesh has a strong pool of skilled young people and is well placed to meet global demand for digital services if the right support continues. The message was clear: with steady training, stronger innovation, and active public-private cooperation, the sector can grow faster and reach wider markets. Officials also said BASIS has a key role in helping local companies become more competitive and more visible on the global stage. BASIS Administrator Abul Khair Mohammad Hafizullah Khan said sustainable growth in the sector depends on collective action from all stakeholders. He said the iftar helped deepen industry ties and opened the door to new business and collaboration opportunities for members. He also noted that demand for Bangladeshi ICT products and services is rising in global markets, which gives local firms a stronger reason to improve their skills, build trust, and expand their reach.Event organizer AHM Rokmunur Zaman Rony thanked the guests and members of the ICT community for taking part, saying the Ramadan gathering offered a meaningful chance to build goodwill and stronger professional relationships. The overall tone of the event was positive and forward-looking, with a shared belief that Bangladesh’s tech sector can become an even bigger force in the economy. For a growing industry that depends on trust, teamwork, and new ideas, this kind of networking can be just as important as technical skill. It helps people connect, find partners, and turn plans into real projects. BASIS said it remains committed to supporting the software and IT services sector and to helping build a more technology-driven future for the country.
