A three-day agricultural technology fair opened in Kaliganj upazila to show farmers simple, modern ways to grow more food and earn more money. The fair is organised under the Sustainable Agriculture Project for the Jashore region and brings together twenty two organisations to display tools, ideas and services for farmers to try. The Upazila Nirbahi Officer inaugurated the event and a discussion followed where local agricultural, fisheries and jute officials met farmers and young entrepreneurs to talk about useful techniques. The deputy commissioner joined the meeting online while the upazila agricultural officer explained how farmers can test new methods in small steps. Visitors saw low cost tools, water saving ideas, seed options and small machines for planting and harvest. Several stalls showed irrigation tools that save water, including drip systems and small pumps that are easy to run and repair, which suit small plots and dry zones. Other booths displayed ways to store crops safely, better packing methods to keep quality, seed varieties that resist pests, and low cost dryers to speed processing after harvest. Fisheries officers spoke about pond management and how fish and shrimp producers can use better feed and hygiene to increase yields and reduce loss. Jute and fibre experts showed new equipment for jute processing and ideas to add value so small producers earn more for their fibre and woven goods. Young entrepreneurs shared innovations and practical apps that help farmers track weather, record sales and link to buyers in nearby markets. The fair also offered short talks and demos on safe pesticide use, nutrient management and simple soil tests so farmers know what their land needs. Attendees could ask extension workers for free tips and get leaflets with clear steps for planting, watering and harvesting chosen crops. Organisers said the aim is to help farmers try one or two new practices this season and scale up if they work, so change stays low risk. Local leaders said support from many departments and groups makes it easier for farmers to find loans, training and local technicians to keep machines working. Farmers who visited said they liked tools that cost little and save time, and they welcomed learning methods that protect soil and water while raising yields. The event is meant to spread ideas quickly, connect buyers with local producers and help young people start small agri businesses in their villages. Organisers hope the fair leads to more training, demo plots and wider use of tools that raise incomes and make farming more reliable. If farmers adopt even a few of the ideas on show, families can earn more, waste less and build steadier farm plans that cope better with changing weather. Free advice was available onsite.
