Axentec, which is part of Robi Axiata PLC, has introduced Axentec Cloud. This cloud platform, ranked as Tier-4, is the first of its kind in the nation and is entirely hosted within the country, marking an important milestone for Bangladesh’s digital infrastructure. The announcement was made at a press event at Axentec’s Dhaka headquarters and underscores the growing emphasis on data sovereignty, security, and enterprise-grade cloud services. The platform features two Tier-4 data centers—one in Jashore and a secondary facility in Bhulta—meeting the highest global standards for reliability, uptime, and disaster resilience. With 99.99 percent uptime and full compliance with national data policies, Axentec Cloud offers businesses complete control over their data, free from cross-border regulatory concerns. At the launch event, Shish Haider Chowdhury, who is the Secretary of the ICT Division, highlighted how crucial it is to have cloud services based in the country. He stated, “Having our own cloud infrastructure is vital not only for protecting our data but also for realizing our long-term economic growth. This will enhance local businesses and draw in international companies.” Adil Hossain Noble, the managing director and CEO of Axentec PLC, noted that local businesses have been limited by depending on overseas platforms, and he mentioned that Axentec Cloud provides a reliable, secure, and locally managed solution aligned with Bangladesh’s digital ambitions. Axentec Cloud is equipped with advanced features for enterprise use, including elastic scaling, an enterprise-grade security stack (firewalls, anti-DDoS, encrypted backups), and AI-ready infrastructure with GPU support, containers, and managed databases. The platform also includes local billing in BDT, avoiding foreign exchange costs, and a 24/7 support team offering end-to-end service. The launch enables Bangladesh to rely less on global cloud service providers. By offering data localization, regulatory compliance, and robust infrastructure, Axentec aims to attract industries such as banking, healthcare, logistics, e-commerce, and manufacturing to host critical workloads locally. Analysts believe this could spur stronger digital transformation, generate local IT jobs, and retain more tech investment within the country. Robi Axiata had earlier inaugurated a Tier 4 data center known as “Cypher” in Jashore in February 2024. That prefabricated co-location center set the stage for Axentec’s cloud service offering, leveraging Robi’s telecommunications strength to extend enterprise cloud services. As Bangladesh prepares for digital inclusion and global competitiveness, the launch of Axentec Cloud reflects a turning point. Enterprises now have access to an indigenous, world-class cloud platform capable of supporting mission-critical workloads with high performance, security, and regulatory compliance.
