by Bangladesh in Focus

Sonali Bank PLC’s General Manager offices in Cumilla and Noakhali jointly organised a divisional business review meeting at the Buro Bangladesh Auditorium in Cumilla that brought together senior leaders and local branch teams to review performance, share best practices, and map out steps to make banking easier and more reliable for customers. The meeting opened with Md Shawkat Ali Khan, managing director and chief executive officer of Sonali Bank, attending as chief guest, which showed the bank’s strong support for local leadership and a desire to connect head office priorities with field operations. Md Golam Siddique, general manager in-charge of the Cumilla GM office, presided over the meeting, and deputy managing director Md Rezaul Karim joined as a special guest alongside Md Safayet Hossain Patwary, general manager of the head office, and Mohammad Moniruzzaman, GM in-charge of the Noakhali office. Heads of all principal offices, corporate branches and managers from different branches under the Cumilla and Noakhali GM offices attended, giving the meeting a broad mix of experience and local knowledge. Participants discussed branch performance, customer service, loan management and local outreach, and they compared data and shared simple and proven steps to reduce delays and solve common problems. Speakers emphasised teamwork, clearer communication between branches and head office, and faster response to customer requests so people and businesses can get timely help. The meeting also provided a chance for managers to explain local opportunities and challenges, such as serving small businesses, expanding digital services, and improving collection and recovery in a fair way. Senior leaders listened to local suggestions, offered guidance, and set follow up actions so progress can be tracked. The meeting aimed to ensure that policy moves from the head office reach branches in clear form and that local staff feel supported to act on them. Attendees left with a shared plan to improve daily service, boost use of digital tools, strengthen risk checks, and support customers with clearer advice and simpler banking steps. By meeting face to face, leaders said they could build stronger ties, speed up decisions, and bring practical changes to how branches operate. The review meeting underlined Sonali Bank’s focus on steady improvements at the regional level and its intent to work closely with local teams to help customers, grow business fairly, and make local banking more dependable across Cumilla and Noakhali. Managers were asked to focus on financial inclusion and build ties with local businesses. The bank plans to offer targeted training to branch staff so they can handle customer needs more quickly and with clear explanations. The meeting closed with a note of optimism and a commitment to follow up on actions to make everyday banking smoother for customers and partners.
