Salehuddin Urges Investment in Education as Brahmanbaria Awards 312 Scholarships

by Bangladesh in Focus

Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed urged strong investment in education as he led a scholarship distribution ceremony hosted by the Brahmanbaria District Association in Dhaka at the International Convention City Bashundhara, where 312 students received support to keep learning and to build brighter futures. He said putting money and effort into schools and students is not charity but a long term investment that helps the whole country grow, and his words set a hopeful tone for the event. The association gave 25 scholarships at the honours level, 182 at the HSC level and 105 at the SSC level, so young people at many stages of study will get help to pay for books, transport and school costs. Leaders at the gathering praised Brahmanbaria as a place of heritage and harmony and said the awards show how local people can work together to support talent and positive change. MA Khalek, the association president, spoke with pride about the district’s history of producing leaders, scholars and artists and said the scholarships are part of a plan to make Brahmanbaria known for knowledge and achievement rather than for problems. Engineer Md Khaled Hossain Mahbub, the general secretary, called the meeting a call to action, asking members to help build a good image for the district across the country and to back young learners. Short speeches, bright smiles and clear plans filled the room as students accepted awards and families celebrated chances to continue education. Cultural performances at the end of the program added music, dance and local colour and gave a visible sign of the district’s rich traditions. The award ceremony aimed to nurture merit and to make study more fair by lowering financial barriers that can stop promising students from moving on to higher levels. By helping learners at the SSC, HSC and honours stages, the organisers hope more young people will finish school and choose careers that match their skills, whether in teaching, health, technology, farming or local business. Community giving like this also sends a message to schools and local leaders that education matters and is worth supporting with time, funds and planning. Those who received scholarships said they felt encouraged to study harder and to give back one day, while organisers said the awards can spark new ideas for training, mentorship and local projects. The event brought neighbours, teachers and officials together and showed how a simple act — sharing resources with bright students — can plant seeds for long term growth, stronger civic pride and a skilled workforce that lifts the whole district. Organisers renewed their commitment to continue such awards and invited partners and donors to join the effort, widening support for future scholars and boost local opportunities.
