The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) in Bangladesh has achieved a significant milestone by finishing the cold and hot functional tests for Unit 1, which moves the project nearer to becoming fully operational. These tests involved a thorough cleaning process of the fresh steam pipelines in the turbine compartment, an essential step to ensure safety and reliability before the plant starts producing electricity. These critical functional tests are part of the final preparation steps needed to commission Power Unit 1 and connect it to Bangladesh’s national power grid. The RNPP is based on the modern Russian VVER-1200 design, known for its advanced safety features and high efficiency.
