Khulna University of Engineering and Technology’s Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) is playing a vital role in equipping Bangladesh’s workforce with modern digital skills through its specialized training programs. For over 15 years, IICT has provided quality information and communication technology education aimed at developing practical abilities for students, professionals, and government officials. The institute currently offers 26 training programs, including eight six-month professional diploma courses and 18 short-term courses, all designed to keep pace with rapidly changing technology trends. IICT’s training sessions are conducted by experienced instructors in classrooms equipped with modern computer labs and high-speed internet access, ensuring an effective learning environment. Successful participants receive certificates that help boost their careers and open new opportunities in Bangladesh’s growing ICT sector. Recently, the institute’s impact has expanded through government collaboration. Under the EDGE project led by the ICT Division, over 115 senior government officials from Khulna and surrounding districts have been trained at IICT to improve their digital skills and support the country’s digital transformation efforts. This highlights IICT’s commitment to making ICT knowledge accessible at all levels of society. Furthermore, KUET’s syndicate has approved transferring management of the ICT Ministry’s Incubation Center, located on the KUET campus, to IICT. This move will enhance the institute’s capacity to support innovation, research, and entrepreneurship in the ICT field. By integrating the incubation center, IICT aims to offer students and professionals hands-on experience in developing new technologies and startups, helping to foster a stronger digital economy in Bangladesh. Through continuous program development and modern facilities, IICT remains dedicated to nurturing a skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of a digital future. Its efforts align with national goals to increase technological literacy and create job opportunities in the information technology sector. By bridging educational gaps and providing practical training, IICT contributes significantly to Bangladesh’s economic growth and technological progress. This holistic approach to ICT education supports both individual career growth and the broader advancement of the country’s digital infrastructure. As IICT continues to evolve, it promises to be a key institution in preparing Bangladesh for a technology-driven world.
