Starting today, June 26, 2025, the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and similar exams are taking place throughout Bangladesh, all while ensuring strict health and security protocols are in place. Over 1.25 million students from general, technical, and madrasa education streams are taking the exams at nearly 2,800 centres nationwide. Students are required to enter exam halls at least 30 minutes before the start time, and any late arrival must be formally logged with name, roll number, and reason for delay. To maintain exam integrity, only the centre-in-charge is allowed to carry a non-camera mobile device inside the exam halls. Other electronic devices are prohibited. Health precautions have been put in place due to rising concerns over COVID-19 and dengue. Mask-wearing is mandatory for everyone students, guardians, and officials entering the centres. Hand sanitiser is provided at entrances, and mosquito-repellent sprays are applied to reduce dengue risks. Seating arrangements ensure at least three feet of distance between candidates, and medical teams are on standby. Local authorities, law enforcement, and intelligence agencies are closely monitoring the situation to prevent irregularities. Coaching centres nationwide have been ordered to remain closed until August 15 to create an equitable exam environment. Schools and authorities have also implemented stricter rules concerning seating, mobile usage, and attendance recording. This exam marks the return to the full-syllabus format, as all subjects are being examined with full marks and standard durations. The written papers will continue through August 10, while practical exams are scheduled to follow in August. A total of 2,797 centres across 9,314 educational institutions are hosting the exams. Performance in these exams is critical. Students must pass both theory and practical components in their chosen streams to move on to higher education or technical studies. Thorough planning and following the rules closely are essential for every candidate. Overall, the beginning of the HSC exams reflects robust coordination among educational and government bodies. The measures in place strive to ensure fairness, safety, and order during this significant academic milestone for thousands of students.
