In a vibrant showcase of innovation and collaboration, Unilever Bangladesh and Orange Corners Bangladesh hosted the “Ecosystem in Action: Powering Future Builders” event on June 24 at The Westin Dhaka. The event brought together early-stage entrepreneurs, private sector leaders, government officials, and development partners to support youth-led businesses across Bangladesh. The goal was clear: to strengthen the startup ecosystem by connecting young innovators with investors, mentors, and market opportunities. The event featured a fireside chat with Kamal Quadir, founder and CEO of bKash, and Zaved Akhtar, chairman and managing director of Unilever Bangladesh. They shared insights on leadership, decision-making, and the role of private sector engagement in scaling impactful businesses. One of the event’s highlights was the Trailblazer Gallery, where five startups—BD Recycle Technologies, Drip Irrigation BD, Polka Flex, Aqualink Bangladesh, and Watt Motors—showcased their solutions in climate resilience, agri-tech, green mobility, and the circular economy. From solar-powered irrigation systems to biodegradable flex banners and lightweight electric vehicles, these ventures are tackling real-world problems with creativity and purpose. This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote entrepreneurship as a key driver of inclusive growth in Bangladesh. Orange Corners, supported by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, provides training, funding, and mentorship to early-stage businesses. Unilever’s partnership with Orange Corners reflects its commitment to building a more sustainable and equitable future through purpose-led innovation. The event also emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration. Chief Guest Lutfey Siddiqi, special envoy on international affairs to the chief adviser of the interim government, praised the young entrepreneurs and called for deeper partnerships between government, private industry, and support organizations. “Youth entrepreneurship is essential for national progress,” he said. Startups in attendance gained valuable exposure and made connections that could lead to future investment and growth. Many of them are already working with universities and tech hubs to refine their products and expand their reach. By creating a platform where ideas meet opportunity, “Ecosystem in Action” is helping to shape a new generation of Bangladeshi entrepreneurs—ones who are ready to lead with innovation, resilience, and impact.
