Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) held its 17th Annual Senate Meeting on June 19, 2025, at the Bijoy Auditorium in Dhaka. Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam, the Vice Chancellor and Senate Chairman, led the gathering. At the start, he thanked outgoing members and warmly welcomed new appointees. During the meeting, Treasurer Air Commodore Md Reza Emdad Khan proposed revisions to the 2024–2025 budget, stating it stood at Tk 134.8 crore. He also presented the initial 2025–2026 budget of Tk 134.97 crore. Both budgets were approved unanimously by the senate. The university also unveiled its 17th annual report, highlighting achievements in academics, research, and innovation. This report was endorsed by all senate members. Registrar Brigadier General Md Rabbi Ahsan formally conducted the meeting. In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor noted that BUP, though a relatively new institution, has earned national and international recognition. This success has come through active participation in competitions, seminars, workshops, and strong research output. To become a world-class university, BUP has launched its Academic Strategic Plan–2050, focusing on modernizing curriculum, implementing Outcome-Based Education, boosting research, and supporting innovation. BUP’s research wings, including the BUP Research Centre, are working closely with faculties and affiliates to support consultancy and practical innovations. This aligns with its motto: “Inspiring Innovation for Advancing Knowledge.” The university regularly publishes five journals annually, showcasing local and global research. The Vice Chancellor emphasized BUP’s goal of nurturing capable graduates who are not just academically skilled, but also ethical, disciplined, and responsible citizens. To that end, ethical education has been woven into all degree programs. The university also plans to attract international students and enrich campus life with seminars, cultural events, and programs celebrating Bangladesh’s heritage. The senate meeting brought together key figures, including secretaries from various ministries, senior members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, and BUP leadership. Their presence underscores the institution’s strong governance and strategic importance in higher education. This year’s annual meeting highlights BUP’s steady rise as a modern institution. With careful financial oversight, academic strategic planning, and a supportive research environment, it is moving confidently toward its goal of international excellence by 2050.
