NCC Bank has launched a large tree plantation campaign across Bangladesh as part of its corporate social responsibility work, aiming to plant more than 14,000 trees and use the effort to promote both environmental care and financial awareness among students. The campaign, called “Apner Sathay Sobujer Pothay,” began at Begum Nurjahan Memorial Girls’ High School in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, where the bank planted fruit saplings on the school grounds and gave saplings to 150 students. The wider plan will reach 40 schools across the country, with more than 14,000 students expected to receive saplings through the programme. Alongside the planting drive, the bank also arranged awareness sessions on student banking, financial literacy, and digital banking, showing that the project is meant to do more than add green cover. It is also designed to help young people learn basic money habits and understand modern banking services at an early age. NCC Bank Managing Director M Shamsul Arefin said the bank wants to support environmental sustainability, reduce carbon emissions, and inspire the younger generation to help build a cleaner future. He encouraged students to plant trees at home, on rooftops, and on unused land so the habit can spread beyond the school setting. He also pointed to the bank’s green financing efforts and its CSR work as part of a longer commitment to social responsibility. The bank used the event to draw attention to its fully digital and eco-conscious savings product, the NCC NeoX Account, which fits with its message of greener and more modern banking. School leaders and bank officials joined the launch, making it a shared effort between the education and banking communities. The campaign reflects a growing idea in Bangladesh that banks can support development not only through loans and deposits, but also through social projects that improve public awareness and the local environment. For students, the initiative offers a simple but lasting lesson: caring for trees and learning how to save and use money wisely can both help shape a better future. If the campaign continues as planned, it may leave behind not only more trees, but also a stronger sense of environmental responsibility and financial knowledge among the next generation.
