Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have formed a fresh alliance aimed at expanding their outsourcing and IT services industries. On May 14, the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Dharmapala Weerakkody, visited the Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO) at their office in Dhaka. They agreed to work together to expand service exports, strengthen tech ties, and build a stronger digital community. This partnership combines Bangladesh’s outsourcing abilities with the expertise in ICT from Sri Lanka. BACCO President Tanvir Ibrahim shared that Bangladesh’s IT-BPO exports were worth $1.4 billion last year. That makes Bangladesh a rising star in global digital services. Both countries plan several key actions. First, they will co-host training programs to help young professionals learn new tech skills. These programs will involve their IT worker groups and government tech bodies. Second, they will invite each other to big tech events. This June, Dhaka will host Bangladesh’s BACCO Summit, and later this year, Sri Lanka’s key ICT event, Disrupt Asia, will invite companies from Bangladesh. These events will help companies make connections and form partnerships. Another important step is a virtual meeting with three main groups: Bangladesh’s BACCO, Sri Lanka’s ICT Agency, and Sri Lanka’s software services group, SLASSCOM. In this virtual forum, they will plan joint steps such as shared projects, export support, and innovation schemes. This will help both countries share best practices and work on new ideas together. This teamwork is especially helpful for both sides. Bangladesh’s outsourcing firms will get to learn new tools and tools for managing digital services. Sri Lankan companies will get access to a large pool of skilled Bangladeshi workers. Together, they can offer stronger, more reliable services to customers everywhere. Experts believe this move can help boost jobs and strengthen both economies. As Bangladesh builds on its growing outsourcing market and Sri Lanka brings in its tech know-how, both countries stand to gain more in reputation, foreign income, and innovation. In a world where digital services and remote work are becoming vital, this partnership comes at just the right time. It promotes shared learning in areas like customer support, data handling, and software development. By joining hands, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka can better compete globally and offer advanced solutions together. This positive step also shows that South Asia can work together in new industries. It goes beyond old trade ties and political borders. The focus here is on human skills, smart planning, and cooperation in services. The alliance between BACCO and Sri Lankan groups is a clear sign of what can happen when countries team up to build stronger digital futures. With joint training, shared summits, and mutual support, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are making a new path for regional ICT and outsourcing success.
